The availability of legal aid for family law matters significantly changed on the 1 April 2013.
Cases must be considered ‘exceptional’ for Legal Aid to be available, such as those involving child protection, abduction or if you are able to produce evidence of domestic abuse. In addition to this we are able to offer legal aid for children involved in family court proceedings.
If your case falls within a category that remains in scope for Legal Aid, it will also be necessary for you to pass a means test. This test will consider both your income and capital. Click here to visit the Legal Aid Agency 'Legal Aid Checker'.
We are one of very few firms that continue to hold a contract with the Legal Aid Agency and can guide you through the eligibility process.
